BILLINGSLEY, Alabama – Employees at Tenaska Lindsay Hill Generating Station have been honored with two National Safety Council (NSC) awards for their 2019 safety performance: the Perfect Record and the Occupational Excellence Achievement awards.

“Our employees work extremely hard and take pride in maintaining a safe work environment,” said Plant Manager Robert Threlkeld. “Safety is embedded in our culture and is a strong foundation in all that we do.”

The Perfect Record Award recognized companies that have completed 12 months without incurring a U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) lost-time injury or illness. The Occupational Excellence Achievement Award honors plants for operating with a safety record equal to or better than 50% of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics rates in the industry for lost-time illnesses and injuries.

In addition, employees at Tenaska Lindsay Hill received the Tenaska CEO Safety Award, an honor given annually by the company to the generating station that goes above and beyond in promoting a strong safety culture.

Tenaska Lindsay Hill is certified as a prestigious Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Worksite – the nation’s highest safety designation – by OSHA. The plant is among 2,150 U.S. worksites and 32 Alabama worksites to achieve the VPP Star.

Tenaska Lindsay Hill Generating Station is fueled by clean-burning natural gas and produces electricity for sale to Mercuria Energy America, Inc. Its 859 megawatts meet the electric energy demands of approximately 859,000 homes.

The plant, owned by Tenaska Alabama Partners, L.P., is one of the largest taxpayers in Autauga County. It has contributed approximately $15.3 million in property taxes through 2019. The plants inject more than $6.4 million in salaries and payments to local contractors and vendors into the area economy each year.

Furthermore, employees are active in the community. They volunteered more than 350 hours of service to local community and charitable projects in 2019. The plant sponsors a college scholarship program to benefit Autauga County high school students. To date, 186 graduates have received $159,000 in scholarships.
