Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Bridges of Faith in Billingsley has received an unexpected gift that it is hoping to turn into operating funds.

The organization works with orphans in Ukraine, brings them to Alabama for camps and facilitates adoptions.

Recently, Bridges of Faith received a 1924 Steinway ‘M’ piano.

“It’s gorgeous … completely restored inside and out,” founder Tom Benz said.

Benz said the instrument is valued at $68,000.

The organization is accepting bids via email or phone through Oct. 31. Minimum bid has been set at $5,000. Bids can be made by contacting Benz at 334-221-0385 or benz@bridgesoffaith.com.

Appointments can also be made to see the piano in person by contacting Benz.

“We want to take gifts, humanitarian aid and a presentation to orphanages in Ukraine,” Benz said. “We want to give the kids some kind of joy at Christmas.”

Because of the pandemic, the usual camps could not be held. However, Benz said orphans are still being adopted. Three adoptions have been completed recently, and three are in process, he said.

“We get amazing support from Chilton County and from the state of Alabama,” Benz said. “We are so incredibly grateful.”
