A motorcycle accident on The Dragon, a popular yet dangerous road in Tennessee popular with motorcycle enthusiasts, resulted in the death of Lisa Renee Green.

Green was the owner and optometrist at Jemison Eye Care.

The Blount County Sheriff’s Office released a statement about the incident on its Facebook page.

In it, Sheriff James Lee Berrong said Green “was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel with AMR Ambulance Service. A passenger on the motorcycle, Amos Tallent, 42, of Ellijay, Georgia was taken by AMR Ambulance Service to Blount Memorial Hospital where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.”

The incident occurred a little after 3 p.m. on April 19.

“An investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit determined that Lisa Green and Amos Tallent were traveling north on the Dragon on a 2020 Harley Davidson Trike and as she negotiated a right curve she looked away from the road briefly and traveled into a ditch on the left side of the roadway,” Berrong said.  “As the Trike came out of the ditch, she over-corrected, causing the Trike to turn over onto the roadway. The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the accident. Sheriff Berrong and the deputies of Blount County Sheriff’s Office extend our condolences to the family of Lisa Green on the loss of their loved one, and wishes a speedy recovery for Mr. Tallent.”

The Chilton County Chamber of Commerce released a statement on its Facebook page on Aug. 20 extending “deepest sympathy and condolences to the family.”

According to Chamber of Commerce President Billy Singleton, “Dr. Green was a beloved member of the Jemison community who devoted her time to the service of others. Her passing will be deeply felt by her many friends in Chilton County.”

“Dr. Green not only devoted her time caring for her patients but was especially active in her community. She opened her practice, Jemison Eye Care in 2002. In 2010, Jemison Eye Care was selected as the Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year. Dr. Green also served two terms as a member of the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors,” the Chamber stated.
