April J. Buchanan of Maplesville wanted to find a way to tell others about the love of God.

That desire became her book “Hard Love,” which is now available on Amazon.com and will be available through Barnes and Noble this month.

“It is about the love of God, mostly what I have learned in my life about his love,” Buchanan said. “… In a world where the love of God is being redefined, I wanted to share the true love of God … his benevolent love, his faithful love. I called it hard love because it is not always easy to love with the love of God.”

She said the book also talks about how to love others the way God does.

“My heart has always been for the salvation of souls,” Buchanan said.

The death of her son’s best friend had a major impact on Buchanan, who became retrospective about the need to share God’s love “and the message of salvation” with everyone.

She began writing “Hard Love” in 2017. She said it was challenging to get comfortable with “putting myself out there.”

Buchanan had enjoyed writing and had friends encourage her to write a devotional book after receiving notes from her.

“I truly believe that it is a message that our world needs to know,” Buchanan said. “We need to know the love of God and get back to the truth.”

The book is available in hardcover or paperback. It is published by Covenant Books.
