The Maplesville Police Department responded to a domestic incident where someone had been shot on Aug. 2 between 10 and 10:30 a.m.

A juvenile suspect was arrested within half an hour of the incident. Maplesville Police Chief Todd Ingram said the suspect’s name is not being released because he is a minor.

Officers had received a call about gunshots on Chilton County Road 323 (near the Triple G) west of Maplesville, Ingram said. The incident was treated as an active shooter incident until the suspect was apprehended.

The victim was Raymond Tinney who was transported by ambulance to Maplesville High School Parking lot and airlifted to UAB Hospital. He sustained non-life-threating injuries and is in stable condition, according to Ingram.

“He had adopted a young man a few years ago, and it was involving him,” Ingram said.

The domestic incident stemmed from ongoing issues between the two.

When police arrived, the suspect had left the scene but was seen walking on Shanks Drive. Ingram said the suspect was arrested at the park on Shanks Drive behind the bathrooms.

The suspect is currently at a juvenile corrections facility in Shelby County.

Chilton County Sheriff’s Office and Clanton Police Department also responded to the scene.

Investigation is ongoing.
