Jefferson State Community College, including the Chilton-Clanton campus, will conduct classes mostly through online platforms.

However, some classes, such as those requiring a clinical or lab setting, will be offered as a hybrid between on campus and online learning.

According to a press release from the college, there will be only a few exceptions where classes not requiring a hands-on component would be meeting in person.

The college encouraged students to contact their specific department with questions about the format for their classes.

Classes for each of the Jefferson State Community College campuses will begin on Aug. 21.

Students finished out last semester in mostly online classes after coronavirus social distancing recommendations and requirements were put in place. Online classes have been offered through Jefferson state for several years, so many of the students are familiar with the platform.

Resources were available to students who were unfamiliar with online learning. Explanations on how to use new platforms and internet-based resources such as tutoring or the college’s writing lab were made available to students on the Jeff State website. IT resources are also available to the students to work through issues connecting to classes or other school resources.
