Chilton County Schools has released updated information about graduation ceremonies for the class of 2020.

The school system confirmed that the ceremonies will be held in June.

Dates and times are as follows:

Chilton County High School will be June 13 beginning at 9 a.m.

Isabella High School will be June 12 beginning at 7 p.m.

Jemison High School will be June 6 beginning at 9 a.m.

Maplesville High School will be June 9 beginning at 7 p.m.

Thorsby High School will be June 11 beginning at 7 p.m.

Verbena High School will be June 8 beginning at 7 p.m.

Another change to graduation this year is that all of the ceremonies “will be held at the school’s football field,” according to a CCS press release.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will move to the school’s auditorium. An announcement would be made two hours prior to the ceremony.

“We are looking forward to honoring the class of 2020 and appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding of the current public health situation,” the release stated. “Our primary goal is the health and safety of our community and being able to honor our worthy graduates.”

The traditional May ceremonies were postponed due to stay-at-home guidelines put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now restrictions have been lifted somewhat, allowing groups to gather when social distancing precautions are being taken.

“All graduations will include the entire graduating class and each graduate will receive 4 tickets, and all department of public health and social distancing guidelines will be followed,” the school system release stated. “… All ceremonies will be live streamed on our school system YouTube channel. We reserve the right to change the day/time/location/format in the event we feel it in the best interest of public health.”
