The annual Sportsmen’s Spectacular is returning to Liberty Hill Baptist Church on March 14.

This free event features a wild game supper and several family friendly outdoor activities.

“Our annual Sportsmen’s Spectacular is one of our largest events at Liberty Hill,” said Kent Dodson, pastor at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, in a press release. “It is such a great opportunity for us to meet people in our community and get to know each other through shared interests of hunting, fishing and the outdoors.”

This year’s special guests will be Terry Billings and his Heaven Bound Mud Bogger Monster Truck and guest speaker Ken Wilson.

Wilson is an “avid outdoorsman” and works with the North American Mission Board.

“He grew up on a dairy farm in Southern Illinois where his recreation was fishing in the farm ponds or coon, rabbit, squirrel, dove and quail hunting. He has hunted and guided in UKC, NKC, ACHA and PKC world hunts. He has guided and led an evangelistic deer hunt for the last 15 years,” the release stated.

Activities for children in the Kids Zone will begin at 3 p.m. as will door prize registration, according to the press release from the church.

Kid zone activities this year for those in sixth grade and younger will include archery, casting, BB gun target shooting and more.

Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. followed by the guest speaker’s presentation.

“Local outdoor enthusiasts will spend the afternoon cooking various wild game using Dutch ovens, grills and smokers,” the release stated. “In the past, the supper has featured deer, buffalo, bear, squirrel, frog legs, elk and even alligator.”

Door prizes will be drawn throughout the event. A $250 gift card will be drawn at the end. The winner must be present to claim the prize.

The church asks that groups planning to attend RSVP by contacting Liberty Hill at 205-755-1694 or email tina@libertyhillonline.org.
