A multi-agency drug bust by members of law enforcement in Chilton County led to the arrest of six individuals on multiple felony charges,

The arrests come after an investigation that spanned over a year and a half that included the seizure of “large quantities of methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl,” according to a release from Assistant Chief Deputy Shane Mayfield with the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Mayfield, investigators with CCSO, the Clanton Police Department and the Calera Police Department executed arrest warrants and a search warrant on County Road 445 in Chilton County.

“That operation resulted in the arrests of Jason Edward Barnes, 41, for Trafficking Methamphetamine, Trafficking Heroin, two counts of Receiving Stolen Property (stolen firearms), and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Cynthia Robbins Cartee, 50, for Trafficking Methamphetamine, Trafficking Heroin, Receiving Stolen Property (stolen firearm) and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Katelynn Elizabeth Marie Lykes, 26, for Trafficking Methamphetamine, Trafficking Heroin, Receiving Stolen Property (stolen firearm), Chemical Endangerment of a Child, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; and Keela Diane Holliman, 33, for Trafficking Methamphetamine, Trafficking Heroin, Receiving Stolen Property (stolen firearm), and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia,” said Mayfield.

The operation also resulted in the seizure of approximately 106 grams of methamphetamine, 38 grams of heroin, 1.5 grams of suspected fentanyl and two stolen firearms.

Investigators conducted a follow-up operation Dec. 9 that resulted in the arrests of Kenneth Eugene Carter, 53, for Trafficking Methamphetamine, Trafficking Heroin, Receiving

Stolen Property (stolen firearm), two counts of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled

Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia as well as Daniel Nicholas Lee Edwards, 33, for Trafficking Heroin, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Approximately 25 grams of heroine and 3.5 grams of methamphetamine were seized during that operation.

“These individuals are part of an organization that is responsible for large amounts of drugs

coming into our county and surrounding counties,” said Sheriff John Shearon. “Our investigators have worked continuously on this group for over a year, along with investigators from Clanton and Calera police departments. Sharing information, sharing equipment, working together to do whatever it takes to make good cases that will hopefully take these people out of our communities.

“Most of these individuals are out of bond or probation for other drug-related charges. We are going to be contacting the district attorneys in those jurisdictions and asking that they file for bond/probation revocations. I would like to commend all of the investigators and agencies that worked to make this case possible, and I would remind those who are involved in the illegal drug trade in this county that our people multi-task well. This is not the only case we’re working on. Tomorrow, next week, next month may be your day.”
