Chilton County high school students may be receiving their schedules for the coming school year later than anticipated due to server crash.

Technology Coordinator Kim Arrington said all data has been recovered from a backup.

“All of our servers crashed, and we had to rebuild some of those,” Arrington said. “We had a backup of everything. It just took time to rebuild the servers and load those back up on there.”

It took a few days for the system to get back up and running, so schools that were planning on working on the schedules during those days are behind.

Isabella High School students will receive their schedules at orientation.

“Due to unforeseen data problems that crashed our entire data server for the county, high school student schedules will not be handed out until Orientation on August 1st at 7 P.M. We apologize for any inconvenience,” according to the IHS official Facebook page.

Parents with questions about when their students will receive the class schedule should contact their school for specific details.

The server crash came almost a week after IT specialist Nic Cardwell outlined the need for an offsite backup to the Chilton County Board of Education during a work session.

The offsite server backup is one of several technology-based items being considered for funding with excess finds being given to the system by the Alabama Department of Education.
