The Middle Alabama Area Agency on Aging, M4A, is hosting a legal bootcamp to discuss end of life planning on July 18 at Clanton Senior Center, located at 500 Enterprise Road.

Jan Neal of Jan Neal Law Firm, LLC, will be hosting the bootcamp, titled “What to do when a loved one dies.”

The event is free, but registration is required. Anyone interested may register by calling Laura King with M4A at 205-670-5770.

There will be an opportunity for a one-on-one session after the bootcamp from 12:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

“(Jan Neal) will go over different topics during the event,” King said. “If you want you can bring your legal documents and she will go over them with you.”

King said M4A and its partners have events like this in different locations throughout the year.

“They have been well-received,” she said. “We really try to encourage everyone to have everything in order before they or a loved one pass.”

M4A covers Blount, Chilton, Shelby, St. Clair, and Walker counties.

According to the organization’s website, “M4A’s mission is to help all individuals access information, assistance, and resources that will empower them to self-advocate, live independently, and enjoy the highest quality of life. M4A specializes in serving older adults and individuals with disabilities.”

King encourages anyone seeking more information on M4A to visit that website, M4A.org.

“We go to each senior center in our area twice a year,” she said. “We are trying to reach members of the community.”
