The Central Alabama Performing Arts Guild is calling on local artists to enter its contest to develop a logo for the 2019 In the Mood Jazz Festival.

Sarah Jackson of CAPAG said the contest is open to all ages and can be traditional art (painting or drawing) or digital.

“Ideally, we would love to do this each year and have a different logo each year,” Jackson said. “We think that would be really fun.”

Entry to the contest is $10. Entries must be original work of the person submitting the logo and must be family friendly.

Jackson said the design should relate to jazz or music in general and could feature the name of the festival.

Entries can be submitted by email to capaguild@gmail.com or mailed to 400 Eighth St. N Clanton, AL 35045.

Checks made out to Central Alabama Performing Arts Guild can be sent to 400 Eighth St. N Clanton, AL 35045. Payments of entry fee may also be made via Venmo at capaguild@gmail.com.

The jazz festival has had posters in the past but never an official logo.

The winning logo will be displayed on the event programs, T-shirts and in other ways to promote the event.

T-shirts are an addition to the festival this year.

“This is a way we want to showcase the artwork … something tangible the community can enjoy,” Jackson said.

The deadline for submission is Aug. 15.

Random entries will be featured on the Central Alabama Performing Arts Guild Facebook page.

A winner will be announced on the Facebook page on Aug. 24.

Jackson said the Guild plans to feature the winning artist on their Facebook page with an interview.

In the Mood Jazz Festival will be held on Oct. 5 at Senior Connection.
