Bobby Martin was presented the Lions Club Community Service Award during the Junior Miss Peach Pageant on June 25.
The award was presented by Clanton Lions Club President Glenn McGriff.

“There is nothing more important than receiving an award from your peers, the peers of the Lions Club,” Martin said. “I appreciate it, and I plan to keep serving in the community. The motto of the Lions Club is ‘we serve,’ and I believe that and I am going to continue that. Thank you so much for this award.”
Martin recently retired from his 30-year career as probate judge, is a former president of the Clanton Lions Club and a member of the Gideons International.
He is a former president of the Alabama probate judges association.
Martin served on the Clanton City Council for more than a decade.
“I always said if you look in the dictionary under public servant, you would see Bobby Martin’s face,” McGriff said. “He always had an open door at the probate judge’s office. He was always willing to help people. He had a heart as big as this county. I am proud to call him a friend.”

Martin commented that he had not realized he did so much and thanked his wife Judy for her support through it all.
