Former Peoples Southern Bank president and CEO Richard Moore was honored for his years of service by the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce during its April luncheon.

Moore retired from his longtime position at Peoples Southern at the end of last year when the institution merged with River Bank & Trust.

Chamber president Billy Singleton gave a short speech highlighting Moore’s background and career before board member Steve Mims presented Moore with an award in appreciation of his service to the county.

“There are so many people I have come in contact with that I really love and appreciate,” Moore said, while addressing the crowd. “Some are here in this room today, and some have gone on to other places. It’s been a real pleasure. I am looking forward to continuing to serve in some capacity. I am looking forward to the progress that Chilton County continues to make.”

Moore summed up his speech, and intention to remain working in some capacity, by saying “I’m not dead yet.”

Jeremy Arthur, the president of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama, was the guest speaker at the event.

Arthur and some of his colleagues spoke about the Alabama Chambers Benefit Program, which allows different Chambers across Alabama to provide access to insurance coverage for its members.

“The 102 Chambers across the state are joining together,” Arthur said. “This program is very near and dear to us. We have traveled across the state, and what we have heard from meeting with folks just like you every day is you need access to insurance that is good, reliable and affordable. We crafted a plan that can help you meet those goals and needs.”
