Chilton County will take part in a pair of federal aid projects over the next nine years.

County Engineer Tony Wearren mentioned the projects include County Road 51 from County Road 42 to County Road 44 and County Road 37 from State Road 22 to the Autauga County line during their meeting.

A pair of resolutions was unanimously approved to adopt the sections of roads as a federal aid project during the Commission’s meeting on March 12. It will allow the county to begin some patching and leveling work.

The Commission also voted in favor of hiring a law firm led by Roger Bates as the new county attorney.

According to Commissioner Allen Caton, the interview process included three outstanding attorneys as candidates.

Bates is an alumnus of Chilton County High School and is a managing partner of a firm with many attorneys.

According to interim county attorney Robert Spence, the firm is “ready to go” and the county will be well represented with the selection.

“He’s [Martin] done his part,” Commission Chairman Joseph Parnell said.
