Erskine Eugene (Bill) Mullins

Erskine Eugene (Bill) Mullins made the trip to his heavenly home on December 17, 2018 at the age of 93.  He was born to Eugene Mullins and Evie Oneal Maddox in the Kincheon Community of Chilton County on March 3, 1925.  His early life was spent in the Kincheon Community where he was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.  As a teenager, he was trained by the U.S. Army to be a member of the invasion force of Japan in World War II.  After the Japanese surrender, he served in the Occupying Force.

Following his return to Chilton County, he met and married a young dime store clerk, Virginia Elizabeth (Jenny) Sharp.  Together, they headed to Birmingham to seek their fortune.  In his early life, Bill worked for Tennessee Coal and Iron, Barrett Roofing Company, and Buffalo Rock in Birmingham.  Later, he managed the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company in Montgomery and then Royal Crown Cola in Montgomery.  He was a long time member of Millbrook Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Virginia Elizabeth Sharp Mullins, his parents, Eugene Mullins and Evie Oneal Maddox Mullins; sisters Ethel Lee (Reedie) Dobbs, Etta (Earnest) Kendrick, Myrtle (Harvey) Dobbs, Truitt (Bit) Griffin, Aileen (William) Mims, Myrtice (Alton) Baker, Ernestine Mullins, Annie (Herschel) Patterson, Bobbye (Hubert) Devaughn, Hazel Littlejohn; brothers Arnold Washington (Mattie Lou) Mullins, Cary (Gatie) Mullins, Toy (Ellen) Mullins, Cornelius (Audrey) Mullins, an infant brother; and brother-in-law Tom Green.

He is survived by: a daughter, Sarah Jo (Mike) Mikell; a son, Richard Eugene (Sharon) Mullins; granddaughters Rebecca Anne Mullins (Wayne) Crow, Joy Elizabeth Mikell (Cole) Portis, Kimberly Delaine Mikell (Patrick) Bond; grandson Richard Scott (Rebecca) Mullins; sister Euna Pearl Green; brother-in-law Orville Littlejohn; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Pallbearers will be Scott Mullins, Will Mullins, Josh Mullins, Jon Cole Portis, Jim Portis, Samuel Portis and Chase Hutchinson.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on December 19, 2018, at Brookside Funeral Home, 3360 Brookside Drive, Millbrook, Alabama.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Millbrook Baptist Church.  Brookside Funeral Home of Millbrook, Alabama directing.
