The Jemison Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Jemison Lions Club, will be on Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. at Jemison High School.

Floats will begin lining up at 10:30 a.m.

The club is still accepting applications for floats through Nov. 30. Applications are available on the Jemison Lions Club Facebook page.

Application fee is $10 and can be paid the day of the parade. The fee can also be paid ahead of time to Tammie McGriff at Jemison City Hall. Checks should be made payable to Jemison Lions Club.

“It’s a community event,” McGriff said. “It brings hundreds of people out and gets them in the Christmas Spirit.”

Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories. In past years, these categories have included best theme, best Christmas spirit, most participation and most original.

The parade starts at Jemison High School and travels along Highway 31 to Jemison Baptist Church.

With the possibility of rain on the day of the event, a decision will be made on Nov. 29 whether to change the date. Check the Jemison Lions Club Facebook page or the Jemison Library for updates.
