Equipment needs were a focus for the Maplesville Town Council during a meeting on Aug. 13.
The Council approved having the air conditioning and other issues fixed on a Maplesville Police Department vehicle. The repairs are estimated to cost $2,300, according to Town Clerk Dawn Smitherman.
Maplesville Volunteer Fire Department updated the Council on the need for new turnout gear, the suits and related-equipment worn to fight a fire. This gear is required to be replaced every 10 years.
The department will bring specs to the Town Council at a future meeting, so the city can put out a request for bids. Smitherman said the equipment was required to be bid out because of the cost.
Also during the meeting, the Council approved:
- Purchasing a Chilton County 150th Anniversary banner.
- Hiring Justin Wilson as a reserve officer and Jason Reeves as a part-time officer.
- Tanisha Wilson as a volunteer firefighter.
