The Thorsby Town Council approved the final step in the process dealing with the insurance contract between Billy Scarborough and Shep, the town’s newly official drug dog, during its May 7 meeting.

The process has been ongoing since Scarborough first came before the council at its meeting on April 2.

Shep is a full-blooded German Shepherd puppy and Thorsby Police Department’s first drug dog.

The town approved a resolution to accept the town’s annual sewer system report card, which had no violations or SSOs (Sanitary Sewer Overflow).

The resolution is required by ADEM in conjunction with the town’s future training purposes.

In other news from the meeting:

  • For the next couple of months the Thorsby Fire Department will be running tests and working on hydrant flows. Residents are urged to call the town if they notice any mud in the lines, which can result in black or dark water.
  • The Thorsby Fire Department received $1,100 from the Alabama Forestry Commission.
  • It was approved to pay the bills and transfer the funds.
