The Chilton County Arts Council will host Another Man’s Treasure Art Show on May 5 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Rose Gallery, 703 Second Avenue North in Clanton.
Along with viewing unique art from reused and reclaimed items, attendees will have a chance to speak with some of the artists behind the pieces.
Some of the artwork will also be for sale.
“It is interesting to see what people do with other people’s trash,” organizer Rebecca Mitchell said.
One of her personal favorites from the past was when a student who took used dryer sheets and painted them.
“It was almost like butterfly wings spread out on the canvas,” Mitchell said.
Other memorable pieces include clay work on empty wine bottles, a self-portrait painted on an old piece of wooden fence and a set of reworked wind chimes.
It is not too late for artists to participate. Entry into the art show is free and open to the public.
Applications are available at chiltoncountyartscouncil.com. Artwork and applications will need to be delivered to the Rose Gallery on May 2 from 1 to 4 p.m.
The Arts Council is looking for members and volunteers to have the gallery open additional days in May. For more information, contact the Arts Council at chiltoncountyartscouncil@hotmail.com.
