The Jemison Lady Panthers enjoyed a successful road trip April 5 as they successfully knocked off the Billingsley Bears 15-4.

A leadoff walk for Hannah Corbin to start the game would be followed by a walk by Emma Alred and a single by Shelby Crowson. A one-out single by Erristen Evans would score the first run of the game followed by a two-RBI single by Charlise Murphy. Add in a wild pitch for a Panther run, and Jemison would take an early 4-0 lead.

The bottom half of the opening inning would see the Bears answer with a pair of their own as Madison Motley got things started with a leadoff double. A bunt by Maegan Motley would give Billingsley two aboard and would set up a two-RBI single by Shelby Bevan that would make it 4-2 in favor of the Panthers after one inning of play.

Jemison would keep the bats going in the second by tacking on four more in the inning. Corbin would start the inning with a walk followed by a hit by pitch to Madison Moore and a fielder’s choice ground ball by Alred. An RBI single by Crowson, a two-RBI double by Chloe Eddins and a Billingsley error would make it an 8-2 Jemison lead.

A scoreless bottom of the second would move action to the top of the third, where the Panthers would add two more. A Bears’ error on a ground ball by Logan Woodley, along with a single by Corbin, set up a pair of RBIs by Moore and Crowson that would extend the Jemison lead to eight at 10-2.

A three up and three down inning for Billingsley in the bottom half of the third would send action to the top of the fourth, where Jemison would add one more on a RBI single from Corbin.

With Billingsley unable to answer in the bottom half of the fourth, the Panthers would come to bat in the top of the fifth with an 11-2 lead.

A leadoff walk to Moore set up a RBI single by Crowson in the top of the fifth inning but would be answered by a pair of Billingsley runs in the home half of the inning. Motley got things started with leadoff single that would set up a RBI single from Bevan while a RBI single from Letlow would add one more for the Bears. Heading to the sixth, Jemison led 12-4.

Corbin would start the sixth with a solo shot over the right field wall, her third home run of the week, to make it a 13-4 Jemison lead. The Panthers added two more in the top of the seventh on a Kyla Wilson double, which helped Jemison secure a 15-4 victory.

Kennise Bolton got the start on the mound for Jemison and threw three innings while allowing no earned runs on three hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Crowson led Jemison at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance with three singles and three RBIs.

Katlynn Burnette pitched a complete game for the Bears allowing 11 earned runs on 12 hits with six walks and five strikeouts. Bevan led Billingsley at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance with three singles and three RBIs.
