Storytelling and music are on the agenda for the Chestnut Creek Heritage Chapel’s fall event this year.

Sean Dietrich, a columnist, author and musician, will present at the chapel on Nov. 5 at 4 p.m.

“He is going to tell us some of his stories with us,” Ola Taylor of the Chestnut Creek Heritage Chapel said.

The second half of the performance will be musical.

Taylor said this will be Dietrich’s first performance in Chilton County, although he has performed throughout the state.

“He is not from Alabama, but he calls himself an adopted son of Alabama,” Taylor said.

Dietrich lives in Florida.

“I first began to read his blog online, and I was drawn to him because he emphasizes what is good that is going on,” Taylor said.

These positive tales highlight ordinary people going about their lives. His columns are about real people he observes in his travels.

Taylor said when she found out Dietrich was also a musician, she thought he would be a good fit for the chapel. Dietrich’s music style includes traditional church music and Hank Williams Sr. style music.

“This will be our third annual fall musical event, and we try to have something different every time,” Dietrich said.

Also new for this year will be a pound cake competition. Taylor said local celebrities will serve as a panel of judges to decide on the best cakes. All of the pound cakes will be served as the refreshments for the afternoon.

Tickets for the event are $15 at the door. For more information, visit the Chestnut Creek Heritage Chapel Facebook page.
