Some of the best eateries in Chilton County will be showcased during the Inaugural Taste of Chilton County on Sept. 11 at Senior Connection.

“The objective is to keep business in Chilton County versus Prattville and Alabaster,” said event organizer Gordon Swenson, with the Rotary Club.

Tickets for the event are $25 per person and include the opportunity to sample and eat the cuisine from 20-plus restaurants in the county.

It is a joint venture to host the event with Rotary Club and Senior Connection members having teamed up and been preparing for the event since February.

“Everything is coming together,” Swenson said.

Rotary Club is a civic organization that provides funding for various local needs and money from the event will also go toward helping Senior Connection increase their fund to purchase a bus.

Local restaurants will have booths set up around the perimeter of Senior Connection, in which ticket holders can visit to learn more about the businesses and the food they specialize in.

Eight event sponsors and about 12 table sponsors are currently locked into the event.

The tables will provide a place for people to sit and enjoy their food and share in conversation.

“People are encouraged to sit at any of the tables and talk with the table sponsors,” Swenson said. “I want to have each table with a sponsor on it.”

According to Swenson, the reception has been good from the businesses and the public.

The event is scheduled to take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., giving people plenty of time to explore what all that Chilton County has to offer.

“You get to feast for two hours,” Swenson said.

There are an array of ways to purchase tickets, which include calling Swenson at (205) 907-4219, visiting the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce or Senior Connection, and getting in touch with any Rotary Club member.

The Taste of Chilton will also have a booth setup at Peach Jam Revisited on Sept. 1 for people to learn more and purchase tickets.

Tickets will be available for purchase at the door on the day of the event.
