MAPELSVILLE — Pletcher Community Church will celebrate Easter with an outdoor production of “The Easter Journey” on April 16 at 11 a.m.

Director Kacy Holloway said the play focuses on the original Easter Story, depicting the Last Supper, Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Holloway said the production will be a biannual event.

“We alter between this and a sunrise service,” Holloway said.

The cast of more than 20 has spent hours over the past three months preparing for the presentation. The cast adapted the script to fit the number of people available.

“I think it does a really good job of portraying the story,” Holloway said.

Holloway said the play was first put on by the church in 2015 and the drama moved her to tears, even though she had seen it countless times during rehearsals.

“After the way it made me feel and the way it made the audience feel I wanted to get the word out a little more this year,” Holloway said.

Seating will be provided in the outdoor viewing area behind the church.

Holloway said the service will last one hour.

The church is located at 186 County Road 398 in Maplesville.
