Glad Tidings Church of God will host a singing on Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. with musical guest Holy Destiny to benefit Willadean Lawrence.

Lawrence, who has a local radio show as “The Little Woman,” was diagnosed with cancer and her church is raising money to help cover her medical expenses.

Stacey Adams is a member of Holy Destiny and said he wanted to do what he could to help Lawrence.

“I’ve known her ever since I was a little boy,” Adams said. “She’s been a member of Glad Tidings Church of God for a long time and I grew up there.”

Adams said Lawrence has been on the radio since she took over her deceased husband’s show on 95.5 FM in Clanton. She is at UAB Hospital and is unable to do the radio show for now.

“We knew her doctor bills were piling up and we just thought we might come up with a concert to do for her … and show how much we love her,” Adams said.

The show will be free and open to the public. The church will take up an offering at the event to benefit Lawrence, according to Adams.

Adams said Holy Destiny’s performance would be in Southern Gospel style and include songs from the group’s new album, “Midnight Cry.”

Glad Tidings Church of God is located at 4204 County Road 85 in Clanton.
