 Chilton County pulled off the clean sweep on Thursday night, as the Tigers junior varsity, varsity girls, and varsity boys all advanced to the Finals for Saturday’s County Tournament Championship round.

Nine points from Martavious Lewis helped lead the Tigers’ JV to a 49-24 win over the Jemison Panthers in the first semifinal match of the evening.

The Tigers’ varsity girls kept the momentum going in the second semifinal of the evening with a hard fought 53-43 win over the Panthers.

Adi Argent put the first four points on the board, but baskets from Kiara Steele and Erristen Evans made the score 5-4 midway through the period.

With the score tied at five, a basket from Catherine Staffney kicked off a 7-0 Chilton run to give the Tigers a 12-5 lead at the end of the first period.

Argent started the second period the same way she did the first, while extending the Tiger lead to 11.

The Panthers battled back to cut the Tiger lead to seven, but a 3-pointer from Lexis Blackman brought the score to 23-13.

That lead grew by two as the teams went to the locker room for the halftime break with the Tigers leading 29-17.

Just seconds into the second half, a basket from Steele began a 6-0 Jemison run that cut the Chilton lead to eight.

Two free throws from Lucas again made the lead 10, but a pair of 3-point baskets from Karmen Mims and the Tiger lead was cut to four.

A basket from Steele and Maria Flores made it a one-point game and with a buzzer-beating basket by Martin the Tigers took a 38-34 lead to the final period.

A basket by Argent started a 6-0 Chilton run to start the period and with 3:29 to play in the game, Chilton held a 10-point lead.

With the Panthers unable to cut into the Chilton lead, the Tigers picked up a 53-43 win while advancing to a championship matchup with the Isabella Mustangs.

Argent led the Tigers with 12 points, three rebounds, six steals and two blocks. Mims led the Panthers with 12 points, three rebounds and a steal.

The Chilton Varsity Boys did not disappoint in making the Tigers three-for-three on the evening with a 77-51 win over the Verbena Red Devils.

An early lead by the Red Devils slowly gave way to a one-point Verbena lead when a basket from Donte Davis swapped the lead in favor of the Tigers and kicked off a 10-1 Chilton run that gave the Tigers a 20-10 lead at the end of the first period.

Mondez Jones and Giquon Lane extended the Tiger lead early in the second period to 14, while Chilton built a 19-point lead through the midway point of the third period.

A pair of baskets from Juwan Tyus moved the Red Devils to within 15 and a basket from Miller made the Tiger lead 13 at the end of the first half, 38-25.

A 3-point basket from Garrett Strength early in the third period extended the Tiger lead to 18, but was met by baskets from Miller and Tyus to make the Chilton lead once again, 14.

Tyus cut the lead to 12, but baskets from Damian Wilson and Davis brought the score to 50-33 in favor of the Tigers.

A basket from Davis was met by a three from Miller to send the game to the final period with Chilton leading 52-35.

Davis and Jaylan Martin would combing to make the Tiger lead twenty in the early moments of the fourth, while Martin and Cleckler extended the Tiger lead to 24.

With the Tigers sitting on a 32-point lead, a pair of Red Devil 3-point baskets cut that lead to 26, but it was that same point margin that the Tigers went on to win by while sitting up a date with the Jemison Panthers in the championship game.

Jones led the Tigers with 22 points, 12 rebounds and three steals. Tyus led the Red Devils with 26 points, 12 rebounds and two steals.
