From Staff Reports

Officers from the Clanton Police Department recovered multiple lawnmowers stolen from Peach Automotive on Sept. 14.

According to the press release, a passer-by told the officers that he had seen two vehicles pulling away from Peach Automotive onto I-65 with trailers holding lawnmowers. The alarm had been triggered, but the police had not yet received a call to dispatch.

Officers began driving toward the last known location of the suspects and saw a lawnmower near the road that appeared to have fallen off of a vehicle.

The officers quickly caught up with one of the suspects near the 200 exit on I-65 and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle sped up to 100 mph and the officers pursued the suspect. The vehicle fled to a neighborhood on Greyhound Street in Montgomery.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisted officers, and after a foot pursuit the suspect was apprehended with the help of a K-9 unit.

Jordan Aaryn Klein – a Montgomery native, age 26 – was placed in the Chilton County Jail with a bond of $20,750 on charges of Burglary in the third degree, Possession of Burglary tools and Theft in the first degree.

The other vehicle and lawnmowers were found abandoned near the 186 exit on I-65. CPD detectives are still attempting to identify the other suspect.
