Senior Connection had a good crowd on hand for its inaugural baked potato bar and Peach Week lunch on Wednesday.
Residents from around the community joined in the event during their lunch breaks and did not take long to fill up the tables that had been set up.
“We had 200 potatoes ready and had to prepare even more,” Senior Connection Coordinator Vanessa McKinney said.
The bar area included several options for people to choose depending on their taste buds and what they wished to add on top of their potato.
The toppings included chili, bacon bits, onions, jalapenos, shredded cheese, salsa and sour cream.
Desserts accompanied every order with peaches being the primary ingredient in each of the recipes.

Janice Patterson prepares the potatoes that would be served during Senior Connection’s baked potato bar lunch on Wednesday.
“It was all in honor of Peach Week,” McKinney said, referring to the ongoing Peach Festival events.
According to McKinney, the public has become more aware of Senior Connection and its ever-changing calendar of events. Due to this, there are plans to make the potato bar a Peach Week tradition moving forward.
Senior Connection has done its part to create a presence within the community over the years.
“I never would have dreamed that this would turn out as great as it has,” Clanton Mayor Billy Joe Driver said. “They have a large number of folks that have wanted to get involved, and make it what it is.”
