The 32nd annual Roy Wood Peach Festival Art Show crowned its winning selections for 2016 on Wednesday.

Aiden Turner won first place in the junior division, while Megan Liveoak was awarded the top prize in the senior division.

Both Turner and Liveoak showcased their talents, as they both entered more than one piece of artwork and took home an honorable mention prize as well as first.

“People are amazed at all the local talent that exists,” Peoples Southern Bank Vice President Debbie Jones said. “It’s a big hit every year.”

The junior division had six participants and nine works of art, while the senior division included 16 artists and 25 displays.

The artwork was judged and the top three selections and an honorable mention in each division were chosen to receive a prize.

First place received $100, second place received $75, third place pocketed $50 and honorable mention brought home $25.

Liveoak will be a senior at Montevallo College and is majoring in art. She entered the art show held in 2014 and wound up claiming first place that year as well.

“It’s all a matter of how a person’s view of something reflects once it hits the canvas,” Liveoak said.

The junior division turned into a family outing with Turner taking home first place and honorable mention and his brother Luke being awarded second place.

“They are competitive in everything that they do,” said Myranda Turner, Aiden and Luke’s mother.

Aiden Turner is 11 years old and has been painting since he was a 4-year-old, while Luke is 9 years old and did not begin painting until more recently.

Breaking up the family connection was Charlotte Blencowe, who finished in third place.

In the senior division, Gloria Ronayne finished second and Tommy Crumpton finished third with their art.
