Jemison officials will look into a grant to help pay for likely costly repairs needed soon to the city’s two water tanks.

The Jemison City Council, at its meeting Monday, approved a resolution designating Mayor Eddie Reed as a signee for a grant through Alabama Department of Environmental Management.

Council members questioned whether the funds would be provided in the form of a grant or a loan, as is indicated on the resolution.

Reed said the program would be explained at a forthcoming work session and that the resolution was necessary to begin the initial phase of the process, prior to any final approval from the Council.

The resolution was approved unanimously.

In other business, the Council:

•Heard from Reed about the performance of the robotics team from Jemison High School at a recent national competition. “People, they came out second in the nation,” said Reed, who added that he intends to prepare a resolution or proclamation for the Council to consider that would commend the team and sponsor on an “awesome job.”

•Approved minutes from the April 18 regular meeting and April 21 emergency meeting.
