Windows being replaced at Thorsby Town Hall

Thorsby Town Hall is getting a facelift.
A project to replace seven windows at the facility began Tuesday.

The building that now served as Town Hall has long been a fixture in Thorsby, originally as a railroad depot and then a café before being used by various banks before the town acquired it.
Town officials are not sure how long the existing windows had been in place, but they know that it has been a long time.
The windows leaked, and in fact were so porous that gusts of wind would have a noticeable effect on blinds inside the windows.
“Those windows were just old and worn out,” Thorsby Mayor Jean Nelson said.
The Town Council approved spending $3,088 to replace seven windows—six on the front of the building and one on the back.
Chilton Awning Company is performing the work.
The new windows will be doubled pane, which should help with costs related to heating and air conditioning—and keep out some of the noise from a busy Highway 31 that runs in front of Town Hall.
The project should be completed this week.
