Council discusses culvert project

The Jemison City Council briefly discussed the ongoing resurfacing project on County Road 42.

Several council members discussed if the current project to replace a culvert over Yellow Leaf Creek would take longer than the estimated three weeks to complete.

Reed said he was unsure how long the project would take, but worried it might be longer than three weeks.

“I do know that weather has been a factor on a few days that has slowed things down,” Reed said. “We are trying to get more information about what is going on.”

Although the entire road is not closed right now, traffic is being detoured from the area where the culvert is being replaced.

The culvert is located between County Road 71 and County Road 48.

While the construction is taking place, no traffic is allowed through that portion of the roadway.

Reed said he would check on the status of the culvert project and report back any information he was able to find.

The council also voted to approve all necessary bills and the minutes from the March 21 meeting.
