Maplesville wins baseball battle against Verbena

Maplesville defeated Verbena 8-4 on the road on March 21 and improved its overall record to 11-2.

Multiple players led the effort offensively, as five different players drove in a run during the contest.

Brent Schoener finished 2-for-5 at the plate with a double and two runs scored, while Drew Smith had a pair of doubles and drove in a run.

Alex Smith went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Devan Wallace had a busy game going 2-for-3 with a double and came around to score three runs for the Red Devils.

The extra base hits continued to pile up as Trevor Wallace tripled and Aaron Dunkin tallied yet another Maplesville double.

Thad Hunter rounded out a dominant performance by the Maplesville batting order by going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Schoener and Wallace got it done on the mound as well as the plate. The two combined to pitch all seven innings and surrendered eight hits and two earned runs while striking out 11 Verbena batters.
