County goes for Trump, Clinton

Donald J. Trump received the highest number of votes in both Chilton County and statewide on Tuesday for the Republican presidential nomination.

Unofficial results showed Trump received 5,273 votes in Chilton County or 49.39 percent while he received 43.40 percent or 376,353 votes statewide.

Trump also received 36 of the state’s 50 delegates to the Republican National Convention.

Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton also received the highest number of votes in both Chilton County and statewide.

Unofficial results showed Clinton receiving 860 votes in Chilton County or 73.07 percent and 77.83 percent or 310,022 votes statewide.

Clinton received 44 delegates out of the state’s 60 to the Democratic National Convention.

Ted Cruz was the second highest Republican vote-getter in Chilton County with 2,328 votes or 21.80 percent, with Marco Rubio receiving 1,436 or 13.45 percent.

Statewide, Cruz received 183,168 votes or 21.12 percent and Rubio received 161,518 votes or 18.62 percent.

Other Republican candidates who received votes in Chilton County included:

•Ben Carson with 1,149 votes or 10.76 percent and 88,969 statewide votes or 10.26 percent.

•John R. Kasich with 218 votes or 2.04 percent and 38,374 statewide votes or 4.42 percent.

•Jeb Bush received 63 votes or 0.59 percent in Chilton County and 4,019 votes or 0.46 percent statewide.

•Mike Huckabee received 51 votes or 0.48 percent in Chilton County and 2,568 votes or 0.30 percent statewide.

•Rand Paul received 11 votes in Chilton County or 0.10 percent and 1,909 votes or 0.22 percent statewide.

•Chris Christie received ten votes in Chilton County or 0.9 percent and 863 or 0.10 percent statewide.

•Rick Santorum received nine votes in Chilton County or 0.8 percent and 161,518 votes or 18.62 percent statewide.

•Carly Fiorina received six votes in Chilton County or 0.6 percent and 552 votes or 0.06 percent statewide.

•Lindsey Graham received five votes in Chilton County or 0.5 percent and 257 votes or 0.03 percent statewide.

•There were 118 uncommitted votes or 1.11 percent in Chilton County and 8,060 votes or 0.93 percent statewide.

Other Democratic candidates who received votes in Chilton County included:

•Bernie Sanders with 289 votes or 24.55 percent and 76,446 votes or 19.19 percent statewide.

•Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente received three votes or 0.25 percent in Chilton County and 814 votes or 0.20 percent statewide.

•Martin J. O’Malley received two votes in Chilton County or 0.17 percent and 1,490 votes or 0.37 percent statewide.

•There were 23 uncommitted votes or 1.95 percent in Chilton County and 9,537 votes or 2.39 percent statewide.

•Richard C. Shelby received 6,294 votes in Chilton County or 64.61 percent and 510,229 votes statewide or 64.98 percent.

•Jonathan McConnell received 2,714 votes in Chilton County or 27.86 percent and 216,094 votes statewide or 27.52 percent.

•John Martin received 323 votes or 3.23 percent in Chilton County and 23,768 votes or 3.03 percent statewide.

•Marcus Bowman received 291 votes in Chilton County or 2.99 percent and 19,864 votes or 2.53 percent statewide.

•Shadrack McGill received 120 votes in Chilton County or 1.23 percent and 15,279 or 1.95 percent statewide.

•Ron Crumpton received 493 votes in Chilton County or 66.35 percent and 156,120 votes or 56.22 percent statewide.

•Charles Nana received 250 votes in Chilton County or 33.65 percent and 121,571 votes statewide or 43.78 percent.

•Tom Parker received 5,929 votes in Chilton County or 73.24 percent and 446,952 votes or 72.51 percent statewide.

•Donna J. Beaulieu received 2,166 votes or 27.76 percent in Chilton County and 169,433 votes or 27.49 percent statewide.

•Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh received 5,958 votes in Chilton County or 65.21 percent and 437,768 or 63.06 percent statewide.

•Terry Dunn received 3,179 34.79 percent in Chilton County and 256,457 or 36.94 percent statewide.

 

Member of State Board of Education, District No. 3

•Stephanie Bell received 5,035 votes or 57.52 percent in Chilton County and 65,403 votes or 60.15 votes statewide.

•Justin Barkley received 3,718 votes or 42.48 percent in Chilton County and 43,331 votes or 39.85 percent statewide.
