Clanton police searched Chilton County High School on Wednesday following an apparent threat found written on a bathroom wall in the school.

Chilton County High School was placed on “lockdown” for more than two hours Wednesday after an apparent threat.

Clanton Police Chief Keith Maddox said a threat was found posted on a bathroom wall, referencing 11 a.m. Wednesday.

When the threat was discovered, the school gymnasium was searched thoroughly, and once cleared, all students were moved to the gym while the rest of the school was searched, Maddox said.

“We’ve searched everything multiple times,” Maddox said. “We’ve cleared everything.”

Superintendent of Education Tommy Glasscock said the lockdown was lifted at about 1:15 p.m. and that a $500 reward is being offered by the school system for information that leads to an arrest and conviction related to the incident.

About 12 officers were on the scene during the search, Maddox said.
