Drake Jones, a student at Chilton County High School, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts.
This accomplishment represents almost five years of adventure, fun, work, and dedication to the Boy Scout program for Jones, a member of Troop No. 57.
During the process of satisfying the requirements for Eagle rank, Jones has performed numerous hours of community service and provided service and leadership for his troop.
In addition to the traditional outdoor skills learned in Boy Scouts, Jones has a host of merit badges including those from art to woodcarving.
Jones Eagle project was to construct, set, and maintain bat houses in and around Chilton County.
This project will help to reduce the mosquito population and prevent the extinction of bats from many deadly diseases, which threaten their lives.
Jones will be formally presented the Eagle Scout award at a court of honor ceremony in the Sunshine Assembly of God Church on Jan. 17 at 2 p.m.
