Calvary Independent Baptist Church

We want to thank everyone who attended services this past week.

Sunday morning services included a message from Isaiah 61:1-3 and other passages about Christian liberty. We looked at salvation unto freedom, freedom unto service, service unto faith and the faith of a saint.

A person who is in Christ should be free from the bondages of sin and law, and be at liberty to worship and serve our Lord Jesus Christ, yet one should live out this liberty in a responsible way that does not cast a stumbling block in the way of the lost or the walk of the weaker brethren.

We hope you are saved and have found the liberty to be part of a Bible-believing and teaching church near you.

Sunday night services included a message from 1 John 5:13-15 titled “Why We Know What We Know.” We looked at how I am sure because of Christ for me, I am sure because of the Holy Spirit in me and I am sure because of the Word of God to me.

The Holy Bible is a spiritually-discerned book; one cannot be educated into its teachings outside of the teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit. When you are saved it is because of what Christ has done for you; when you understand scripture it is because of what the Holy Ghost is doing in you. This assures you that you indeed are saved.

If you have been saved and sealed through the finished work of Christ, you are “in Christ,” and Christ is “in you” —and only someone more powerful than God could break that seal.

We hope you know that if you died today you would go to heaven, but if you have any doubt, we encourage you to search the Scriptures, for in them you believe that you have salvation because they testify of Christ. Christ died for our sins, was buried and raised again for our justification; believe in Him and you too can be saved.

If you are looking for a church to visit this Sunday, we would love to see you at Calvary. For service times and events, check us out on Facebook or Twitter, visit our website at www.cibc-clanton.com or call Pastor Oscar Mims.

We would like everyone to know that revival had to be cancelled this week due to circumstances beyond our control. We will announce new dates at a later time. We do ask that members attend Wednesday night’s service for a special meeting. As always, like our Facebook page for all the latest news and events.

Happy anniversary to Jonathan and Kim Bowen (10 years), and happy birthday to Barbara Wood.
