Mt. Carmel No. 1 Baptist Church

Thanks to those that came Sunday morning to get our day in God’s house started with a wonderful time of fellowship.

We met, starting at 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., in the Fellowship Hall to have some refreshments and conversation. Our goal was to get to know our fellow church family better and to encourage those that only attend worship service to join us in Sunday School.

If you are only coming to worship service, please consider joining us for this time of fellowship. If you cannot attend, we covet your prayers for us.

Our worship service began with Libby Warren playing “When the saints go marching in” for our penny march. Kaityln Burnette sang to the very inspiring song “King of the Jews”.

Bro. Travis Burnette brought our morning message. He used the scripture from Jeremiah 1:1-9 to bring a message titled “The Call of God.” He reminded us the most important call we will ever receive is the call to salvation.

As everyone is aware, Black Friday will be coming soon with people scrambling to take advantage of the deals the stores are offering. These deals will cost you and the products you get are temporary.

If you want an extended warranty, you will have to pay extra. On the other side of the coin, salvation is free and eternal. It is a sad thing to say that you do not see a big crowd of people rushing to take advantage of this great deal.

With the call to salvation, we get assurance that he is always going to be with us. His spirit is with us to give direction on life’s pathway, and his word convicts when we are faltering.

His grace turns us from following the pathway to eternal damnation and gloriously leads us to everlasting peace and glory. We are never too young or too old to receive the call to salvation. When he calls, our answer should be “Yes Lord, I accept your free gift of salvation.”

Sunday evening we had special music presented by Tori Mims who sang “Fighter” and Meshia Mims who sang “There must be something in the water.” We also had some congregational songs and our regular business meeting.

Upcoming events:

After our evening services on Sunday Nov. 15, we will have a dedication service for our shoeboxes that we have for Operation Christmas Child. Our harvest meal will be on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. Choir practice will follow our Sunday evening services. Our midweek service for the week of Thanksgiving will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 24, instead of Wednesday.

We would like to say congratulations to Jerry and Janice Franklin on the birth of a new 9-pound, 2-ounce grandson. Grant Harold Franklin was born Nov. 5. His parents are Jeremy and Jana Franklin. He has two brothers, Brady and Jasper. Grant has some health issues, so we are asking that you pray especially for him and his family as the doctors seek to find exactly what needs to be done.

Others on our prayer list this week are Leona Liveoak, Ruthie Jean Giles, Gladys Franklin, Hilda Cary, Elladean Mims, Jennifer Watley, Jenny Hayes, Tammy Harmon, and Christy Lowery.
