Sunday, Bethany Baptist Church met at 10 a.m. and sang “Did You Think To Pray.”

We then were given a devotion from Proverbs 15:1-7 entitled “The Lips of The Wise.”

These verses of scripture showed the contrast between wise and foolish words. The wise way to handle an argumentative situation is to remain calm and do not argue.

How is someone going to argue with us if we do not argue? The foolish way to handle the situation is to be loud and argue, which will only make the situation worse.

We as saved people should act like a Christian and keep calm. When you first meet someone they may say all the right things, but later their true colors will show.

The heart of a fool does not show Godly wisdom, and the fool does not speak anything positive.

In Proverbs we see how we should and should not live or speak. Everything we do for the world and ourselves is vain and empty.

Be like the wise, answer softly, do not provoke wrath. Godly wisdom is taking what we know and using it for God.

We were dismissed with a prayer to Sunday School and afterward sang “Whosever” Meaneth Me,” “Rescue The Perishing,” “It Is Well With My Soul” and “There Is Power In The Blood.”

Bro. Aubry gave the announcements regarding the Men’s meeting and Ladies Auxiliary Meeting Sunday at 4:30 p.m. and that the Jan. 31 morning services will be followed by a meal at noon along with no evening services.

We are thankful and blessed to have our Pastor, Bro. Aubry and Shirley back in services with us.

Bro. Aubry brought the morning message entitled “The Trials of Life,” Mark 5:21-43. How quickly would the fame of Jesus spread if they had the news media as we have today?

People everywhere heard of the miracles and power of Jesus Christ. Jesus proved that he had the power to care for whatever problems the people encountered. Jesus is the master of all hopeless situations. He possesses all power, according to Matthew 28:18, and Ephesians 3:20.

The greatest enemy or fear of man is death. Even though you may be saved and going to heaven after death, no one wants to die.

Be prepared for desperate times, because they will come. In verse 36, we saw a man who was afraid because his little girl was very sick and would soon die without Jesus.

As soon as Jesus heard of the fear, he said “be not afraid, only believe.” We will see the faith of the father who had lost a child. It shows the conception of the man’s faith in Jesus. He believed that if Jesus would only touch his daughter she would live.

There were a multitude of people following Jesus, some to hear and worship, others out of curiosity and others to see a miracle.

This father knew Jesus was the only one who could heal his little girl. The most important thing for him was that he believed. He was broken hearted and knew that he needed Jesus.

At some point in time everyone needs Jesus, regardless of the status of his or her life. Many today do not really want Jesus in their life. We, when we have a crisis, need to go to God first then to the doctor for physical help.

John 14:1 tells us that if we believe in God, we should also believe in Jesus Christ. We need to have faith to trust in Jesus. Be saved today.

We closed the morning services with a prayer and song “My Faith Has Found A Resting Place.”

The 5 p.m. services began with a song “Seek Ye First” followed by Bro. Aubry’s message which was entitled “Have Faith in Jesus,” from Mark 5:22-43.

Jairus was seeking Jesus to heal his daughter because he had heard of all the miracles Jesus had performed. He believed Jesus could heal his little girl, and we must believe that Jesus has the power to save our souls from sin (the most deadly sickness of all).

Without Jesus as our Savior, we would spend eternity all alone, separated from God. Jesus cares for us every day of our life. Faith in Jesus is faith that will always honor God, according to Mark 9:23.

If we can believe it, God can do it, according to John 14:13,14. Once saved, we should grow in our faith through studying the Bible, prayer and following Jesus.

Never give up on Jesus. Jairus had given up on Jesus when his daughter died, but Jesus brought her back to life, making Jairus a believer.

We must remember that God does things in his own time, not ours! Have faith in God and in his time we will accomplish what he wants us to accomplish through our church. Be saved today before it is too late.

We are thankful for the new member we received today, and for the visitors who some came for the first time, as well as some regular.

Calvary Independent Baptist Church

Calvary Independent Baptist Church wants to say a special thanks to all who attended services this past Sunday.

We especially want to invite our visitors to come back for any of our services.

Sunday morning services included a message from II Timothy 2 about being all we can be as a servant of God in 2016.

We looked at being a son with strength, a sincere teacher, a sold out soldier, a striving husbandman, a studying workman, a sanctified vessel and with all of these “being a servant of the most high God.”

In 2016 we want to see even more souls saved and lives changed for the purpose and glory of our Lord and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sunday night services included a study through the first chapter of James.

We ask you to be in prayer for the one young man that was saved Sunday night and also be in prayer for the one who is being ordained as Deacon this coming Sunday night.

We pray that God keeps doing a mighty work in both of their lives in this brand new year.
