Clanton Elementary School received a donation of more than $5,000 on Wednesday from Baugh Ford in Clanton.

Clanton Elementary School Principal Rebecca Threlkeld and Chilton County Superintendent Tommy Glasscock were given a check for $5,540 from Tommie Baugh.

The money raised came from a Drive 4 Ur School event held Oct. 17 at Baugh Ford in Clanton for parents and grandparents of students at Clanton Elementary School.

Those interested were given the opportunity to fill out a release form, test-drive a vehicle, and complete a post-drive survey, according to Ashley Baugh.

“For every vehicle that was test driven that day, $20 was donated by Ford,” Baugh said. “We had a great response from the community. We ended up having over 300 people come out and test drive vehicles. It was a busy day.”

Those who participated in test-driving a vehicle were asked various questions including how likely they were to recommend a Ford to a friend, relative or colleague as well as what was their overall opinion of the Ford brand.

“It was just a great event for the community,” Baugh said.

Baugh said Durbin Farms provided two gift cards to give away at the event, The Carpet Store provided a cash prize, MorLyn’s Fine Jewelry and Gifts and Antiques gave away two gift cards and Sweet Alice’s BBQ in Clanton provided food for the event.
