Editor’s note: Below is a compilation of the statistics and achievements for graduates of Chilton County area schools who now compete at the college level.

 Spotlight

Jemison graduate Javae Swindle etched his name in the history books as the all-time leading rusher for the University of West Alabama football program en route to leading the Tigers (5-2) to a 52-27 triumph at home against Shorter University (2-4) on Oct. 17 in Livingston.

In the competition, the senior chalked up 69 yards from six rushing attempts to push his career total to 2,220 yards. Matt Willis, the starting running back for the Tigers from 2011-12, was the previous record holder at 2,171 yards from 386 carries.

Against the Hawks, Swindle catalyzed the offense early by scampering for a 50-yard rushing touchdown to open a scoring rampage at the 13-minute mark of the first quarter.

In the matchup, he added a nine-yard reception to finish the game with 78 total yards en route to surpassing 2,400 total yards for his career.

Overall, he entered the year with more than 2,000 rushing yards for his career after compiling 521 yards and two TDs from 78 rushing attempts in 2014.

In 2013, he was selected to the NCAA Division II All-American second team by Beyond Sports Network after delivering 1,296 yards and 12 TDs from 145 carries.

In 2012, he collected 291 yards and one TD from 32 rushing attempts.

For his career, he’s added 196 yards from 19 catches.

Women’s cross country

Sarah Graham (Isabella 2015) is a freshman for the University of West Alabama, which will resume competition at the Gulf South Conference Championships on Oct. 24 in Moundville.

In her most recent effort, she captured the No. 6 performance for the Tigers at the Watson Ford Invitational by finishing 40th on the 6,000-meter course with a time of 25 minutes, 37.98 seconds on Oct. 9 in Clinton, Miss.

Among the field of 20 teams, UWA ended runner-up.

Football

Keandre Binion (Chilton County 2015) has compiled 63 total yards for the year as a running back for Culver-Stockton College, which is 0-7 overall heading into an upcoming matchup at home against NAIA No. 24 William Penn University (5-2) on Oct. 24 in Canton, Mo.

For the season, the freshman’s tallied 46 yards from two kick returns, nine yards from two receptions and eight yards from one carry.

Delondre DeJarnett (Chilton County 2014) is a 6-foot-2, 290-pound defensive lineman for the University of West Alabama.

Damian Mitchell (Maplesville 2014) has totaled 169 yards from eight kick returns and 109 yards from 10 receptions as a wide receiver for the season for Birmingham-Southern College (4-3) in a 35-18 triumph at home against Millsaps College (1-5) on Oct. 17 in Millsaps College (1-5) on Oct. 17 in Birmingham.

David Neece (Chilton County 2013) is a 6-foot-3, 300-pound offensive lineman for Jacksonville State University.

Mitchell Parker (Chilton County 2014) is a redshirt freshman wide receiver for Miles College, which improved to 3-4 overall after securing a 16-6 victory at home against Kentucky State University (2-5) on Oct. 17 in Fairfield.

Randy Satterfield (Jemison 2014) is inching toward passing the 200-yard barrier in receiving for the year as a wide receiver for the University of West Alabama after nabbing a nine-yard reception in a 52-27 triumph at home against Shorter University (2-4) on Oct. 17 in Livingston.

For the season, the sophomore’s tallied 197 yards and four touchdowns from 13 catches.

Jaytarius Steele (Billingsley 2015) hauled in a 10-yard reception as a wide receiver for Huntingdon College (5-1) in a 31-14 victory at LaGrange College (1-4) on Oct. 17 in LaGrange, Ga.

For the year, the freshman’s compiled 269 yards and two TDs from 17 catches.

Riley Tindol (Billingsley 2014) is a 6-foot-5, 262-pound defensive end for Vanderbilt University, which fell to 2-4 overall after sustaining a 19-10 loss at the University of South Carolina (3-4) on Oct. 17 in Columbia, S.C.

Anthony Johnson (Maplesville 2013) hauled in a season-high 56 yards from four receptions as a wide receiver for Jacksonville State University (5-1) in a 42-13 victory Tennessee Tech University (2-5) on Oct. 17 in Cookeville, Tenn.

For the season, the junior’s totaled 72 yards from six catches.

Spencer Watley (Chilton County 2013) has made appearances as a 5-foot-10, 260-pound offensive lineman for Jacksonville State University.

Kortlin Zeigler (Jemison 2014) collected his sixth appearance of the year at tight end for the University of West Alabama against Shorter University.

For the season, the sophomore’s provided an 11-yard kick return.

Men’s golf

Forrest Knight (Chilton County 2013) remains tied for fourth with University of West Alabama teammate Jacob Stinson through two rounds of play at the TVA Credit Union Invitational from Oct. 19-20 in Killen.

Heading into the final round, Knight has produced a total of 143 (74-69) en route to leading the Tigers to position at third among the field of 15 teams.

From Oct. 12-13, the junior secured the No. 1 effort for UNA at the Guy Harvey Invitational by tying for 16th with a three-round score of 219 (71-68-80) in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Among the field of 18 teams, the Lions ended ninth.

Ivan Truss (Chilton County 2013) captured the No. 6 effort for Samford University at the Kenny Perry Invitational by by tying for 52nd with a three-round score of 239 (78, 81-80) from Oct. 12-13 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Among the field of 12 teams, the Bulldogs ended seventh.

Men’s rodeo

 Zachary Wilson (Billingsley 2012) is a senior for the University of West Alabama, which ended runner-up at the Murray State Rodeo on Oct. 12 in Murray, Ky.

Individual results were not available at the time of press.

 Volleyball

Alandra Griffith (Isabella 2014) contributed four digs, four kills and one block as an outside hitter for Wallace Community College – Selma (1-19) in a 3-2 loss at Lawson State Community College (11-14) on Oct. 12 in Birmingham.

In the competition, the freshman followed by producing a game-high six blocks, six kills and one assist in a 3-1 loss at Faulkner State Community College (19-8) on Oct. 14 in Bay Minette.

For the season, she’s compiled 92 kills, 43 blocks, 12 digs, five assists and two aces.
