IHS finishes second in Shelby Co. tournament, hosts Chilton Co. tournament Sat.

Isabella’s volleyball team won twice Monday after finishing second in the Shelby County Tournament the previous weekend.
Facing Shelby County High School on Monday, the Mustangs wore green ribbons in their hair with the No. 6 in honor of former SCHS player Haleigh Green, who was killed over the summer.
IHS, ranked No. 6 in Class 1A, won the match 3-1 (25-12, 25-20, 21-25, 25-12.

Then, the Mustangs won an area game against Autaugaville, 3-0 (25-4, 25-7, 25-7) to improve their record to 18-5 on the season.
For the night, Synia Chattman had 21 kills and 12 blocks; and Jayda Jones had nine kills, five blocks and three aces.
Kinley Tuttle had eight kills and five blocks. Lexi Owens had six kills, one block and four aces. Makaela Littleton had 19 assists and two aces.
Hailey Underwood had seven kills, five blocks, six aces and 14 assists. Brianna Tyler had five kills and seven aces. Kaitlyn Lockhart had three kills. Heather Wallace had seven assists. Chandler Kirkland had four kills, and Sophi Biancalana had seven aces and two kills. Sophia Underwood had seven kills and two aces.
Isabella will host the Chilton County Tournament beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Thorsby and Jemison play first, to be followed by Isabella and Chilton County High School.
The winners of the first two games will then play for the championship.
In the Shelby County Tournament on Sept. 26, Isabella played Vincent, and Tyler started the game with 20 serves in a row.
Vincent couldn’t catch the Mustangs, who won 2-0 (25-4, 25-7).
Tyler had 10 aces, and Chattman had seven kills and four blocks. Hailey Underwood had three kills and seven assists.
The next game, against Moody, started out back-and-forth.
Moody pulled ahead 13-8 in the first set, and Isabella fought back to trail by only one point at 22-21.
With Tyler serving, the Mustangs pulled it out, 25-23, then won the second set, 25-21.
Chattman ended up with nine kills, three blocks and one dig. Jones had five kills and five digs; Tuttle had seven kills and four blocks; Littleton had seven assists, one kill and one dig; and Hailey Underwood had five kills, one block, 10 assists and four digs.
Isabella lost its third game, 2-0 (25-19, 25-19), to Indian Springs.
Chattman had six kills, two blocks and one dig; and Hailey Underwod had six kills, one ace, three assists and three blocks.
In the championship bracket, Isabella used a 15-11 third-set win to defeat Shelby County, after the first two sets went 25-18 and 24-26.
Chattman had five kills, seven blocks and two digs. Jones had six kills and two digs. Tuttle had six kills and two blocks. Littleton had eight assists and one kill. Hailey Underwood had six kills, seven assists and three digs. Caley Booth had two aces and five digs. Sophia Underwood had one kill and 10 digs, and Noelle Fjeldstad had three digs.
In a rematch with Indian Springs for the championship, Isabella started the first set with an 8-2 lead but fell 25-16 and 25-12.
Booth, Jones and Hailey Underwood made the all-tournament team.
