The Chilton County Humane Society is gearing up for the fourth annual spaghetti dinner and fundraiser Sept. 25 at the Clanton Country Club.

The dinner will begin at 7 p.m. and includes spaghetti, desserts and a drink for $20 a ticket. Four tickets can also be purchased for $70.

Dinner tickets may be purchased at the door or before the event at the Chilton County Humane Society, Cox Veterinary Hospital and Pet Haven.

“All proceeds from the event go to the shelter,” Humane Society board member Katherine Reece said. “This is typically one of our best fundraisers.”

After the dinner, a live auction will take place with items from local businesses such as art and handmade crafts.

“We will have local artist Diana Hiott bringing some of her art to auction,” Reece said. “We will have several handmade items and items donated by local businesses.”

Reece said there will also be gift certificates available from Helfi’s, Kravings, Main Street Café and Hollywood Nails.

“We are also asking any other businesses who would like to donate items to be auctioned to let us know,” Reece said. “We would be happy to include as many items as we can in the auction.”

Individuals or businesses interested in donating items for the live auction should call the shelter at (205) 755-9170 or Reece at (205) 294-2197.

Reece said for the first time this year, there are three local businesses sponsoring the event including Chilton Urgent Care, Lee Helms Associates and Stokes Automotive.

“These three businesses donated to sponsor the event, and we have added them to our new business/humane society partnership we are trying to forge called Partners and Compassion.”

Reece said those who attend may dress casual in attire.

The event started several years ago as a way to create a fundraiser for the shelter that would reward people for their donations and support.

Reece said volunteers will be making the spaghetti sauce and desserts.

“People have a lot of fun at this event,” Reece said. “It is a good time for families.”
