The first 2015 Peach Queen was crowned Saturday.

The third time was the charm for new Little Miss Peach Lexie Deavers, 7, who had competed twice before in the pageant.

Deavers was named fourth alternate as a 5-year-old competing in her first Peach Pageant, in 2013, and then was first alternate last year.

Deavers’ mother, Holly Deavers, said Lexie was more comfortable this time around.

“She told me at the beginning that she just wanted to have fun with her friends,” Holly Deavers said.

The new Little Miss Peach’s court included fourth alternate, Marissa Smitherman; third alternate, Mary Henning Dale; Caroline Watson, second alternate; and Addison Bone, first alternate.

Lexie Deavers, who was also the casual wear winner, was nervous about the interview portion of the pageant her first year.

“Being a 5-year-old, it’s hard to go in there and talk to strangers,” Holly Deavers said. “This year, she said that she just wanted to tell them what was in her heart.”

Lexie Deavers said she was excited about talking to the judges this year.

“I had so much fun in the interview,” she said. “I talked to them about why I wanted to be a Peach Queen. I told them I wanted to go to Children’s Hospital (as part of the queens’ responsibilities). I want to help people.”

Holly Deavers said she was so surprised by Lexie’s win that she didn’t have a camera at the pageant, which was held at the Chilton County High School auditorium; instead, she was forced to take photos with her phone.

The moment was a special one for Holly Deavers, who was crowned Junior Miss Peach as a 10-year-old.

Holly Deavers said former queens are given rings to wear to pageant-related events. She let her daughter borrow her ring for events leading up to this year’s pageant.

“Now she’s able to get her own Peach ring,” Holly Deavers said.

Lexie Deavers is the daughter of Holly Deavers and Josh Deavers.

She was sponsored by Glitz and Gownz and attends Thorsby School.
