Thorsby offense outshines LAMP

The Thorsby Rebels varsity baseball team picked up a 10-2 win on Feb. 21 at home against the Loveless Academic Magnet Program Golden Tigers.
After the Tigers earned a single base hit in the top half of the first inning, the Thorsby bats went to work in the bottom half to tack on three runs.
Chris Brown reached after being hit by a pitch, and Bailey Sellers got on after a single up the middle before Tyler Owens drove in Brown with a single to left field.
Dylan Carroll drove in Sellers with another Rebels single to left, and a Wesley Posey single up the middle drove in Owens to give the Rebels a 3-0 lead.
Another single by the Tigers in the top of the second was again all of the offense mustered for LAMP, while the Rebels added two more runs in the bottom half of the inning.
A walk by McRae and another bean ball to Brown led to a two-run scoring single by Owens to extend the Thorsby lead to five runs after two innings of play.
The Tigers got on the scoreboard in the top half of the third inning when John Morgan drove in Gerald Lash and Parker Chavers—the duo reached on a single and fielders choice—to cut the Thorsby lead to three, 5-2.
Tyler Bowden started the home half of the inning by reaching on an error, and with walks being issued to Conner McRae and Brown, a Bailey Sellers walk led to another Rebels run and loaded the bases for Tyler Owens.
With a 2-1 count, Owens blasted the next pitch over the left field wall for a grand slam to give the Rebels a 10-2 lead.
A single by Charles Singleton was all of the offense for the Tigers in the top of the fourth, and two stranded runners by the Rebels brought the inning to a close with the score remaining 10-2.
Neither team scored in the fifth, and a three-up, three-down sixth and seventh inning for the Tigers cinched the 10-2 win for the Rebels.
Owens went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Rebels with two singles, a grand slam and seven RBI.
Sellers pitched five innings while giving up two earned runs, recording five strikeouts and issuing one walk.
