Around 170 attended the annual “Flutter” fundraiser, put on by Butterfly Bridge on Thursday.

Butterfly Bridge held its annual “Flutter” fundraiser at the Clanton Conference and Performing Arts Center on Feb. 5.

The event, which serves as one of two fundraisers for the child advocacy center each year, saw around 170 attend and raised around $8,400, Butterfly Bridge executive director Jana Zuelzke said.

Zuelzke also said the community support for the event stood out to her.

“It’s comforting to know people are willing to step up and help,” she said. “It makes us feel we have a great safety net.”

The event also featured heavy hors d’oeuvres and music from The Usual Suspects, a local jazz outfit. In addition, a silent auction and live auction was held, with Tommy Glasscock entertaining the crowd as auctioneer.

Butterfly Bridge serves to help victims of child abuse ages 3-17 receive counseling and support needed, free of charge.

Services include forensic interviews (at the request of local law enforcement and DHR), trauma-focused therapy, advocacy services throughout the investigative and court process, expert testimony in court and multi-disciplinary team coordination.
