Members of the Jemison City Council reflected on a successful 2014 during a regularly scheduled council meeting Monday.

“I think we had a great year,” councilman George Brasher said.

Mayor Eddie Reed was absent from Monday’s meeting, but councilman Sam Reed led the meeting with members of the council reflecting on 2014.

“Our budget is very strong, we made progress on our debt, we have been able to grow the rescue service as revenue for our city—we have so many things to be grateful for,” councilman Rex Bittle said. “We had a lot of great things happen in 2014 to launch us into 2015.”

Council members Donnie Lane and Robert Morris echoed fellow council members by acknowledging the success during 2014 was largely due to the citizens of Jemison.

“We are servants of the people, and we owe a lot of thanks to the citizens for putting up with us,” Morris said.

There was no formal action taken during Monday’s meeting other than to pay the necessary bills and approve minutes from the Dec. 8, 2014.

The council will not meet Jan. 19, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
