Dear editor,

What a season! First of all, I would like to say how proud I am of our Chilton County High Tigers!

The boys put in a valiant effort this year, and they really played the game and they played it hard.

Win or lose, they were always on top in the eyes of their fans.

I am my son’s biggest fan, and he knows it. It hurts to see your child’s head hanging low and their spirit gone. When we made it home from our last home game on Oct. 30, my son said that he was “sad” that he let his team down.

That would be the last time he would be able to do his job for his fellow teammates, and he felt like he failed them.

This was a teachable moment, and we had to talk about that for a minute. You see, when you give it all you’ve got, you’re not letting anyone down.

This was our first year as a 6A team. We had a new and fabulous coaching staff. This was our time for transition. The boys deserve to be recognized for all of their hard work and dedication. You could see it in their faces and in their stance.

As I looked at the pictures that I hade taken from that night, I saw defeat and sadness in more than just my son’s face and actions. It’s true that a picture is worth more than a thousand words.

So what’s my point you might ask? We all rock! Win or lose, there is something to be gained from every win and every defeat. I support my child, my friends, and my family through it all. Life is not an easy journey, and we are all aware of that fact. So, when you see someone you love that has suffered defeat, help them see the victory in it. For when we fall, all we have to do is get back up just one more time.

Thanks again to our boys that played the game, the coaches who lead them, the cheerleaders that motivated us, the band that gave us our groove, and all the fans that supported Chilton County High School! We can’t forget God for keeping them safe and near him! May our journey to victory continue.
