Etta H. Porter, 86, of Jemison died Wednesday, Oct. 1 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

She was born on Thursday, April 12, 1928, in Chilton County, daughter of the late R.C. Hayes and the late Freddie Patterson Hayes.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Helen (James) Howell, Mrs. Tommie Faye (Johnny) Jones, Mrs. Elaine Avery, Ms. Willodean “Lucy” Porter; two sons, Mr. Howard (Cindy) Porter, Mr. Rickey Lee (Dot) Porter; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Tom Porter; son, Mr. Earnest Wayne Porter; and son-in-law, Mr. Charles Avery.

Friends were received from 5–8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 2 at Martin Funeral Home.

Services will be held Friday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. at Martin Chapel with the Rev. Randal Mims officiating.

Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison.
