Students’ photos, names should not be published

Dear editor,

I find it disturbing that we would publish the pictures, grades and names of our children when we are trying to do so much to protect them.

Sure, you didn’t publish the school name, but how hard would it be to find out?

Not hard, and predators would have a jump start from a 50-cent local newspaper.

Only a few were smart enough to submit only a picture with no information.

Is this really a good idea?

The same goes for all of the other times the newspaper encourages parents to submit pictures of their children for Valentine’s Day, Christmas, birthdays, or whatever.

I know it is all done innocently, but we do not live in an innocent world anymore.

If anything, we should encourage parents to keep their children off any social media.
